PFO and its Non-Profit Partner

Each year Playing for Others partners with a different non-profit in Charlotte that directly impacts children. Through a series of “buddy activities”, teen and partnering children learn to break down stereotypes and practice inclusion.

2009-2010 – Mitey Riders

Mitey Riders is a theraputic horse riding program which provides students with the opportunity to develop balance, coordination and confidence skills.

2008-2009 – Easter Seals, United Cerebral Palsy

Easter Seals UCP North Carolina creates opportunities, promotes individual choice and changes the lives of children and adults with disabilities by maximizing their individual potential for living, learning and working in their communities.  $15,000 donated to Easter Seals, UCP.

2007-2008 – Down Syndrome Association of Charlotte

The Down Syndrome Association of Charlotte enhances the quality of life for all individuals with Down Syndrome by providing information and support to families, professionals and the community through educational and social activities.

$25,000 donated – began an endowment for Camp Horizon, a summer camp for children with Down syndrome.

2006-2007 – LifeSpan

LifeSpan transforms the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities by providing education, employment, and enrichment programs that promote inclusion, choice, family supports, and other best practices.

$23,000 donated – Help fund music and arts therapists for LifeSpan’s Circle School.
