
Allison Modafferi is a yoga teacher and musician. She teaches Anusara style yoga at Sangati Yoga & Massage and Epec Fitness Studio. She sings and records with Side by Side, a locally-based pop rock band, writes and performs her original music, and chants in sanskrit with a handful of friends in a group that she affectionately calls Contagious Grace (or The Shri-tles, depending on her mood!) Allison comes from a musical theatre background, with classical voice and piano training. As a teen, she also played clarinet in school, community, and honors bands and orchestras, and was a high school drum major. At NC State, Allison was a Caldwell Scholar and NC Fellow, and directed the a capella group a Cappology 101. Since college, she’s also enjoyed directing and assistant directing theatre productions, both in NYC and Charlotte. Her favorite credits include [sic], by Melissa James Gibson, and The Voice of the Turtle, by John William Van Druten. Recently, Allison recorded a cover of “Your Day Will Come” for the Nascar documentary film Together: The Hendrick Motor Sports Story, toured with the alt-country band Volatile Baby, and taught for Neighborhood Bridges program and The Children’s Theatre of Charlotte. Her participation in Playing for Others and the PFO Music Experience draws together her passions for music, performance, personal growth, and service.
