Preparing for the Big Rush!

It’s almost January and PFO has been busy, busy, busy preparing all fall for the upcoming months.  Once we hit January & February, the entire group of 63 teens and 8 Advisors will meet once a week on Saturdays from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm to work in their assigned committees.  It’s amazing that these teens are willing to get up at 10:00 am on a Saturday!

A brief committee breakdown for you:

Photography:  Throughout the PFO season, committee members have been taking photos of Buddy Events and PFO events to put together in a display for the Arts Festival Weekend.  All pieces will be available for purchase.

Publicity Stunt: They are working hard to plan and implement a publicity event in the Charlotte community that raises awareness about the Arts Festival Weekend and specifically the musical, “There’s a Monster in my Closet”. More details to come as we get closer to the event, but it’s definitely something to keep watch for!

Winter Ball: This committee is in the process of designing and implementing a formal dance for PFO teens and their friends on Feb.27th.  The event is used for recruiting, fundraising, and celebrating.

Costumes: Teens are learning about the design process and will design & construct the costumes for “There’s a Monster in My Closet”.

Set: Their job is to aid the set designer by procuring materials and facilitating the construction of the set for “There’s a Monster in my Closet”.

Silent Auction: This committee will be working hard to provide an additional income stream to PFO by creating and marketing baskets that appeal to various PFO audiences.  Also, the auction will be online this year!

Through working on these committees, the teens are learning that everyone contributes, everyone is held accountable and everyone follows through – what incredible life lessons!

We hope that our extended PFO family will forward and share the exciting updates related to the Arts Festival Weekend as they come out.  If you’re on Facebook and not a fan of the PFO page, jump on there and join!  As we all know, e-marketing is one of the most effective, inexpensive ways to spread the word :)

Thanks everyone and here’s to a joyous holiday season,

Jen
