
PFO hosts the second annual songwriting competition for teens and this year adds a brand new visual arts competition to the mix.
Songwriting Competition (check out the commercial): Back by popular demand, Playing for Others will host a Songwriting Competition for local teens, ages 14-18. Entries will be accepted from January 1st to February 14th. Following the deadline, 10 finalists will be selected to perform live at the Music Experience Concert, on March 13th at the McGlohan Theatre. At the concert, a panelist of local adults working in the Charlotte music scene will award a prize of $250 to the winning artist(s) as well as the opportunity to record their song professionally.
For our PFO teens in the Music Experience, they will perform the brand new, original PFO theme song for the year.
Rules & Regulations for Songwriting Competition
Visual Arts Competition (check out the commercial): Following in the successful footsteps of the Songwriting Competition, Playing for Others has added a Visual Arts Competition for local teens, ages 14-18. Entries will be accepted from January 1st to February 14th. Following the deadline, jurors comprised of professionals in the visual arts will select a show to be displayed as a part of our Visual Arts Experience culminating event, on March 20th at Amelie’s French Bakery & CafĂ©.
Awards:
“Best in Show” – $250 prize
All pieces will be available for sale the day of the event only.
For our PFO teens in the Visual Arts Experience, they will reveal their collaborative art sculpture.
