Buddy Application for Metro School Students & their siblings

Playing for Others invites you and your family to join our “Buddy Program” for the 2010-2011 school year.  This is an opportunity for your student and their siblings to take part in a 6 month exchange with a local teenager who believes in the power of acceptance and inclusion.

Should you choose to participate in the Playing for Others Buddy Program, your child(ren) will be paired with one to two teenagers in our program.  Together with the rest of the group, they will participate in planned, monthly events.

Buddy Event Dates (all locations will be announced by August 1st):

Sunday, September 12 2:30-4 pm
Sunday, October 3rd 2:30-4 pm
Sunday, November 7th 2:30-4 pm
Saturday, December 4th 2-4 pm
Sunday, January 9th 2:30-4 pm
Sunday, February 6th 2:30-4 pm
Sunday, March 6th 2:30-4 pm
Sunday, May 1st 2:00 pm * Red Carpet Event*

Beyond our scheduled, full-group activities, your buddy may invite you to go to the movies, out for ice cream or send the occasional email, e-card or letter in the mail.  The extent of your relationship is up to the individual families.

Then, during our Arts Festival in March, participants will have the opportunity to be chauffeured in a limosine to our annual musical, participate in the creation of a collaborative sculpture and be a part of our yearly concert.  Following the Arts Festival, it is our goal to present Metro School with a donation.

What’s the catch? There is no catch.  By sharing this program with you, we provide a safe, fully inclusive environment for your child to just be a child regardless of their differences. By offering it to your student AND any of their siblings as well, it becomes an experience the whole family can enjoy.  There is no fee to participate, we simply ask that you or an adult chaperone, including CAP workers, attend the buddy events and sit back and enjoy watching your child bond with another.
