I first encountered PFO in its first year when I went to see some friends in “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown.” It was such a great show, and during the check presentation I could tell that what the teens were saying about the organization was truly genuine. I never considered joining because I was so busy, but last year some of my time freed up. One of my best friends, Molly Smithson, always had such great things to say about it and I decided to apply. I was extremely excited when I got the call that I would be a part of PFO the next year.
The retreat was so much fun and I learned a ton about the organization, committees, and our buddies. My buddy, Brenna, has probably taught me more than anyone this year. She is nonverbal, but she always finds a way to communicate what she wants to say and is also funny, nice, and just an all around happy person. I’ll be starting rehearsals for the theatre experience show, “There’s a Monster In My Closet” soon and am so excited. I’m also learning a lot about the media and publicity world on the Publicity Stunt committee. Playing for Others has been such a great experience. Everyone is extremely accepting, fun, and truly teaches people to embrace and learn from others’ differences.
