I can remember the exact moment that I knew that my life was about to change. It was during PFO’s first check presentation, watching from the audience, that I knew that I needed to be a part of this organization. The raw emotions and the deep passion drew me in, and I submitted my application the following year. When I received my letter of acceptance, it was exciting, but I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Three and a half years later, I am a changed person. I am amazed every day by the things that PFO has accomplished, and the individual successes of my peers.

This year, I was lucky enough to team up with Nicole Ramsey, another senior, and co-direct a musical, How To Eat Like A Child, for our senior exit projects. The journey was incredible. With Jen Band supporting us and teaching us every step of the way, it was by far one of the most important and influential experiences of my life. The show gave me a newfound respect for directors, for actors, for everyone involved in a production. The skills I have learned will no doubt be extremely useful for the rest of my life.

I am lucky enough to be a part of the teen-executive board this year with ten other teens. It has been an incredible learning experience for me. I’ve been influenced positively by the efficient, proactive teens that I’ve worked with. We’ve learned how to run meetings and retreats, and also how to work together. I’m learning new things every day through PFO that I will take with me through my life. I am so honored and lucky to be a part of PFO.
