Sometimes I wonder if things really are supposed to happen for a reason. I know that if I had decided to stay at my home school, Bailey, and to not go to Northwest, then I would not be where I am today. I think of the friends I hold so close to me, and of all the opportunities given to me… everything I would have missed out on by staying at a normal, public school. One of these wonderful opportunities being Playing For Others. :) I had heard about it once or twice because of fellow classmates who were a part of it. I didn’t quite understand the impact of the whole organization until I went to see the showing of Honk!. The energy that emanated from the stage blew me away. The excitement, the commitment, the teamwork that was involved in putting together this collaboration of song and dance to benefit others seemed like such a thrill. Upon exiting that theatre, I knew immediately where I wanted to be. Lucky for me, I was able to be a part of this. And the experience has been nothing short of what I expected it to be. Absolutely mind-blowing. My buddy, Sidney, is beautiful and just the sweetest person. I truly enjoy playing with her and it’s nice to notice how much more she opens up with me every time I see her. My committee has been so awesome. I look forward to every meeting, and I am so looking forward to the Winter Ball. Every time Jen gets up to talk, I have a smile on my face. Her personality is just so eager, encouraging, and supportive of everyone. She prods us when we’re slacking, but at the same time makes sure we get the recognition we deserve. And as for the teens, I have never met such a loving, happy, accepting group. I could walk up to just about anyone, and even if I have never met them in my life, it would be like we were best friends. Even though it’s been several months into PFO, it only feels like it’s just started. I will be sad to see it end, but now all I can do is enjoy these precious months I have and make the most out of the theatre experience. There is no question that I will leave this group with many great values and life skills, and a fantastic experience under my belt. :)
