Buddy Program

Through the Buddy Program, teens become socially conscious, compassionate, and advocates for acceptance.

Our buddies with special needs teach us.

Every year, each PFO teen becomes buddies with a child with special needs. Their relationship is fueled by arts experiences, from creating music and artwork to exploring photography and theater together. It’s also fueled by purely social experiences: playing in the park, attending a performance, going out for ice cream. Teens and buddies practice inclusion and acceptance with each other, and their friendships deepen as the program progresses. PFO creates socially conscious, articulate advocates for acceptance and inclusion — through simple, vital, real relationships. PFO’s buddy program has helped me recognize the value and uniqueness that all people offer. Daniel Morrice, PFO teen

Being in PFO has shown me the balance between vulnerability, confidence, and growth, shaping me as an artist, leader, and friend. Emily Calder, PFO teen
