Playing for Others (PFO) will hold its first annual Juried Art Show as a part of its culminating Arts Festival Weekend. Finalists will be selected from all entries by a panel of jurors to fit the show space based on craftsmanship, quality of design and conceptual development. The opening of this show will be March 20th, 10:30 a.m. at Amelie’s. One piece will be selected by the jury to receive a grand prize of $250. Additional “Audience Favorite” and “Purchase Awards” will also be given.
Playing for Others appreciates the diversity of human beings and does not discriminate based on race, age, religion, ability, sexual orientation, sex or gender identity.
All visual styles are encouraged and welcomed.

Rules
1) Work done by individuals or work done in collaboration may be submitted.
2) All artists must be from 14-18 years old.
3) Artists may only be involved with one entry.
4) All entries must be original works.
5) Entries may not contain profanity.
6) All entries must be 36” or less in length and width and 6” or less in depth.
7) All entries must be wall mountable and submitted finished and ready to hang (with wire or hooks).
8) The selected Finalists must be present for the opening ceremony on the morning of March 20th at 10:30 a.m..
9) Playing for Others has the right to use entries in its promotional materials as they see fit. Playing for Others also has the right to dismiss an entry for any reason.
10) All funds acquired by the sale of entries will be considered as a donation to PFO as a part of this fundraiser.
11) Each piece must reflect the inspiration for the current year.

Process for submission:
1) Print off the Juried Art Show Entry Form, follow the directions and fill it out completely.
2) Drop off your work, ready to hang with the Entry Form attached, at Whitehead Manor, 5901 Sardis Rd. Charlotte, NC 28211, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. & 12:00 p.m. on 1/9, 1/16, 1/23, 1/30, 2/6, 2/13, 2/20 or 2/27.
* Entries are not considered eligible until you have dropped off your work with the completed Entry Form and received confirmation.

Q: What is Playing for Others?
A: Playing for Others (PFO) is a unique experience for teens that develops their leadership skills, establishes relationships with children with special needs, and explores the teens passion for the arts.
Q: How does entering this contest affect my community?
A: By entering the contest you are helping us get the word out about Playing for Others and what we’re all about. You are also showing that teens in Charlotte care about the world around them and that you can take what you’re passionate about to benefit the greater good. PFO also gives a portion of what we raise to our partner non-profit.
Q: What does the winner receive?
A: The winner will receive $250 as well as an opportunity to work with the Jurors the following year.
Q: How are finalists & winners chosen?
A: A panel of 5 judges will choose the finalists. Judging is based on a variety of criteria. Please see “judging criteria” for full details.
Q: Who is on the panel of judges?
A: The panel is composed of professionals working in the visual arts, including artists, curators, educators, gallery directors, business owners and critics.
Q: Do my parents have to be involved?
A: As long as we have a parent contact name and number and they are aware that you have entered the contest, they do not need to be involved. However, we of course encourage it!
Q: Is there an entry fee?
A: There is no entry fee.
Q: If I am selected as a finalist, what is expected of me?
A: Selected finalists will need to be available during the times listed in the Rules. Finalists are also expected to help draw a crowd, friends, family, etc. The larger the crowd, the more impact we will have.
