What’s up journey group!
It’s Candace. A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to meet my PFO buddy Amelia at Veterans Park. Amelia is 8 years old and has Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy. I had a lot of fun with her and my buddy partner Lauren. We played games like tag and water splash with her. At first she was very shy but after awhile we were able to get through her shell and out came energetic, playful Amelia. Also, Lauren and I gave Amelia gifts. I gave her a toy microphone because she loves to sing and Lauren gave her a stuffed cat because she loves cats. She seemed to really like our presents.
I remember at the PFO retreat I learned about acceptance in depth. When I was playing with my buddy I realized that even though she’s different from me and I have to understand that, she is also a lot like me. We like to sing, dance, we both like to make our own choices, and we’re independent. Even though we have our differences we’re both have our similiarities.
In the mail you should’ve received my personal letter and other information about Playing for Others and ways you can contribute. Another way you can support PFO is by coming out to the Fall Open House on October 15th. Thanks for joining my journey group and you’ll hear from me next time!
Love,
Candace
