Hey Journey Group!
I hope everyone is doing wonderfully and enjoying the first signs of spring as much as I am! This month I am writing you you all about PFO’s community involvement. Because we are an organization exclusive to Charlotte and are still relatively young, it is very important to everyone that we reach out and interact with the community as much as possible. This is always a great way for PFO to make new connections, for the teens to get new experiences, and to spread the word about what we do throughout the year.
This year, PFO has done some great things to get involved with the community! The Open Houses are a great example of this. The Fall Open House was a way for us to get the public interested in who we are as an organization and the upcoming Spring Open House is going to be just as great (but with some exciting new renovations). I’m sure that for all of you who came, you were definitely glad you did. As an organization we love to use these opportunities to reach out and get new people interested in attending and get them involved in the organization.
For any of you teens reading, I’m sure most of you came to the Winter Ball not too long ago. The Winter Ball was an annual dance PFO throws each year in hopes of attracting prospective new teens and having a great night of dancing, food, fun, and friends. It is a goal that we get as many people to come so that we can get more people involved with us and spread our mission. Another teen centered event surrounding the community that is coming up is the songwriting competition. Playing For Others has, for the past 4 years, reached out into the community and gathered great original musicians together and celebrated their talent through a competition with prizes. Although this competition is PFO-run, it is centered all around the community and the great talent within it.
There are SO many ways PFO tries to interact with the community you just can’t count. Without the support and involvement of the community Playing for Others wouldn’t be the way it is today. As always, thank you to everyone who took a few minutes out of their day to read this! It means so much to me!
Music and Harmony,
Kara Cometti
